Joseph Hayes is a native of Chicago. He received his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley and has practiced law in Chicago, San Diego and Houston. Mr. Hayes also served for years as Vice President and chief ethics officer for a Fortune 1000 Company until he retired recently to focus his writing endeavors.\n\nMr. Hayes is widely recognized as one of the foremost experts in his field. In his professional capacity, he has written extensively about legal and ethical issues, and frequently speaks about such issues before industry groups, employees and students. \n\nHayes was named Best Novelist of 2012 by the Chicago Reader, a well-known Chicago area newspaper that focuses on the arts and entertainment. That same publication recognized Hayes’s first novel, When No One is Watching, as the “Best New Novel by a Chicagoan.” When No One is Watching has also been recognized as a winner or finalist in multiple national book awards competitions, including The 2011 USA Book Awards, the 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and the 2011 National Indie Excellence Awards.\n\nHayes published his second novel, a legal thriller entitled Consequential Damages, in 2013. His third novel, The Wall, will be released in October 2018.\n\nJoseph Hayes resides in The Woodlands, Texas, with his wife, Susan. They have three children, Amy, Sean and Erin.\n
